The Kasson Coyotes amateur baseball team was eliminated from the Classs C baseball tournament Friday evening after falling to Midway 13-3 at Bird Island. The Coyotes ended the season with a 17-11 record.

The Kasson Festival in the Park Run Saturday attracted 132 participants for the 5K and 10K. There were 87 finishers in the 5K run, 49 female and 38 male. For the 10K there were 45 finishers, 35 female and 15 male.

Coach Larry Hegerle is careful in using the word "potential" when he talks about the 2010 volleyball team and season. He said the team has the potential to rank right up there with the best he has coached here and this will be his 15th season.

Matt VanderPlas grew up 20 minutes east of Rochester in St. Charles, MN. He graduated from SCHS in 2001 where he played football and basketball.

K-M football defensive coordinator Steve DuBois is in his glory at the start of the practice season. He gets to work with a group of high school students athletes who will learn how to stop opposing team’s offenses.

Twenty years ago a few local fellows started a golf match between the "young gents" and the "old guys". This golf tournament has turned into an annual event at the Dodge Country Club that hosted 173 golfers this year.

The Kasson Coyotes will be making a return trip to the Class C amateur baseball tournament for the first time since 2007. The Coyotes picked up a dramatic win Friday night over Winona 6-4 in 11 innings.

The Kasson Park & Recreation Department had some 150 youth take the Red Cross swimming lessons at the Kasson pool this summer.

Last year the K-M football team had speed and size that resulted in a 12-1 season and the only loss of the year was to state champion New London-Spicer at the Metrodome.
