K-M was a completely different team that lost earlier in the season to New Ulm 10-0. This version of the KoMet softball team was playing better in all facets of the game and they were also playing with confidence.

The K-M boys golf team picked up a pair of wins and sophomore Brie Westrom realized a golfer’s dream by knocking in a hole-in-one at The Oaks Golf Club in Hayfield. The Oaks is serving as the home course for the KoMet team this season.

Lakeville North and a few of the other larger schools were missing due to a conflict with a conference track meet. However, Hopkins and a handful of other teams did come with their best athletes and the K-M boys took first and the girls were second.

Wells Fargo, the premier corporate sponsor of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), has announced that Maddie Damon and Aylisha McClaflin of Kasson-Mantorville High School have been named recipients of this year’s Wells Fargo All-Tournament Team award for Class AA Softball.

The K-M softball team is back to the state tournament for a second straight year following a 16-6 five inning win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa in the championship game. Z-M had three losses this season and all three were to the KoMets.

The K-M girls softball team appears to be peaking at the right time. They have win 13 consecutive games, including a 1-0 win over number one ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa, and last week outscored five opponents 57-2.

Senior Riley Donovan pitched a complete game in a 5-2 win over Triton Thursday in the first round of sub-section play.

A 2-0 shutout of seven time state champion and top seed St. Cloud Cathedral sent the KoMets of Kasson-Mantorville to their first state baseball final.

“The three seniors held us up,” said K-M baseball coach Broc Threinen. The three he was referring to were pitchers Charlie Meyer, Riley Donovan and Joey Hyde.
