May 17, 2010
Superintendent Peter Grant, Business Manager Bob Hasz, Curriculum Coordinator Marilyn Bongers, AD Clark Jones, JJ Williams - Maintenance & Operations, and Principals Al Hodge and Marsha Groth were present.
Mark Packard made a motion, seconded by Chris McKern, to approve the agenda. The motion carried unanimously.
The Board recognized Student Council Board Representative Dakota Heiserman for his service on the Board for the last two years.
Superintendent Grant read a letter from Sunshine Student Travel expressing their complements of our students and staff on the music trip to Chicago.
Larry Hegerle and two students spoke with opposition to the termination of B squad VB coach Deb O’Connor.
Chris McKern made a motion, seconded by Mark Packard to approve the bills. The motion carried unanimously.
Kent Harfmann made a motion, seconded by Mark Packard, to approve the minutes of April 19, 2010 School Board Meeting, April 27, 2010 Special Board Meeting – HS Redesign, May 11, 2010 Special Board Meeting – HS Redesign along with the following personnel items. The motion passed unanimously.

Gail Hester made a motion, seconded by Guy Paradise to approve the following updated/new School Board
Policies: 601, 602, 603, 605, 606, 607, 415, 412.1KM. Motion passed unanimously.
Kent Harfmann made a motion, seconded by Chris McKern, to approve the land rental bid with a possibility of the second year in the agreement to be interrupted by possible plans for a ball field complex being started. The motion carried unanimously.
Mark Packard made a motion, seconded by Chris McKern to approve the Reading Specialist Position. The motion carried unanimously.
Guy Paradise made a motion, seconded by Gail Hester, to approve the school district student directory. The motion passed unanimously.
Chris McKern made a motion, seconded by Guy Paradise, to certify the list of 2010 graduates. The motion passed unanimously.
Guy Paradise made a motion, seconded by Kent Harfmann, to approve the summer math program. The motion carried; Mark Packard voted no.
Gail Hester made a motion, seconded by Mark Packard, to approve adding a .5 section of Kindergarten. The motion carried unanimously.
Guy Paradise made a motion, seconded by Mark Packard, to approve the changes to the High School Student Handbook. The motion carried unanimously.
The next regular meeting is July 19, 2010, 7:00 pm in the K-M HS Choir Room.
Middle School Teacher Amy Wix provided an update on a Middle School grant for GPS units and also gave an update on the Middle School goals. The Board listened to Al Hodge’s request for an additional 0.4 FTE for the Middle School.
Guy Paradise made a motion, seconded by Gail Hester, to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
